Are any of you running a fully outfitted LR4 and towing?

I wonder what will happen to my towing ability if I put on front (with winch) and rear bumpers, sliders and all underbody protection.

Usually, when I am out, I have a fridge in the rear, miscellaneous gear used for survival, and at least overnight capability. Probable 250lbs ish. I generally travel solo.

I can still tow a 5500 lb trailer pretty darned well. I am wondering how all this junk would jack my towing. I don't really want to shuffle stuff from trailer to LR4. What is in the LR4 needs to stay there.

Would probably end up with 265/65R18 tires as well.

Any practical experience?

Not I.

I've read a lot of threads on it and found the 550# tongue weight can increase to 770 lbs with a proper hitch. I wouldn't do it with the aftermarket shocks though. It has a 4k rear end in it. Look at the F-150 and its a lot like that but far better with an IFS/IFRS, air shocks with shorter and narrower foot print.

I wouldn't go over the axle and tire weight ratings for very long. Maybe a few trips but not in a case where I buy an RV that is far over max and then expect to travel the country with no problems.

GCVW - all the bolted on **** = your new GCVW.

Tongue weight is 550lbs max per the manual.

Yeah, I will run those numbers when I get info from tactical. At this point not worried about tongue.

Also interested in experience. Without aftermarket gear whole setup works great.

Using weighsafe distribution hitch.

You'll be fine towing a 5500# trailer with no issues.

I have a front metal bumper, FR full roof rack (RTT, 2x fuel cans, bridging boards, canopy, 2 totes (kitchen and bedding), and lights), rear tire carrier (12 gallon fuel tank, 275/70r17 spare, trasharoo (1 gallon propane)), fridge in place of middle center seat (food, beer), 40pk of bottle water, platform bed, 2x water tanks, hot water shower, more totes (tools, misc stuff), HF off road floor jack, interior ceiling racks (recovery gear, fire extinguisher, 1st aid, portable jumpers, blankets, TP, paper towels). Just saying, I'm fully loaded with probably +600 lbs worth of gear. I have a Class IV Rhino Ox hitch and once towed a 17 ft boat, granted it was somewhere around 2500 lbs, and I didn't even feel it was back there.

I've seen pictures and heard stories of a guy transporting 15 rail road ties in the truck with the tailgate and hatch open, and that's about 1500 lbs in the truck. Again, you'll be fine.

So complete tactical 4x4 seupt looks to be 660 lbs. Crazy.
I was looking at that setup recently and its extensive. Its cool in that if you want a stronger bumper there is one on the market that connects to the frame rails with what looks like relatively thick solid steel plating. Deer protection too. Hit a deer square with that bumper on there and I'm sure you'll be glad to have it.

I like the factory front bumper quite a bit. It would be interesting to weigh my LR4 to see how much it can carry front and back and then add 660 lbs to the front axle to see if adding the aftermarket bumper would put it over payload for the front axle. It has a 1300 pound payload capacity over both axles and the rear can carry more than the front, but I'm not sure how the 1300 lbs needs to be distributed.

The rear end has a 4,000 pound capacity so when the truck is empty would the rear have 2k pounds capacity free? There is the weight of the metal body, a lot of equipment like AC stuff back there, sound deadening, leather seats, it all adds up but I'm curious how much of that 4k is left.
