I am in the process of buying an SUV for my father who uses it in his farm and he will be using it heavily including on desert sand. I am undecided between

2003 Range Rover
2006+ LR3 v8
2006+ Toyota Sequoia 4x4

This will be in Dakar Senegal. My choice of course! is the Rangie but I am petrified with the to-be-expected problems related to air suspension etc.. and that can be pretty pricey.. in th US let alone in .. .Senegal. With that in mind... do you think it's insane to pass off the Rangie and get the Sequoia? :)

Thanksin advance!

I think you should seriously consider the 2007 Defender 110. With a simple upgrade of some front and rear locking differentials, that truck would be unstoppable, comfortable, and extremely easy to service and maintain because there are MANY Defenders in that area from what I have read.

I would LOVE to be able to buy one of these. I would sell my LR3 in a heartbeat if I could get one of these beautiful beasties

That sounds like good advice.

If the RR and LR3 are equipped in Senegal anything like they are in the U.S., they'd seem far too nicely outfitted for farm use anywhere, much less in a sandy part of Africa.

I wasn't aware that Toyota even offered the Sequoia outside the U.S.

Toyota kinda has the monopoly. they do sell sequoia under a different name, as well as Lexus. The reason I have opted so far for a Sequoia is for its dual use as a good city car for when it's not at the farm... :)> I love the defender too but it's towing and caargo capacity are .. less than we need.
