Just FYI, low range is just as useful going downhill as it is going up hill. I don't know if you want a full dissertation in off road driving in this thread, but low-range going down hill allows the engine to keep the vehicle at a reasonable speed so that you're not riding the brakes.
yeah, i know. this is what i'm looking for: a discussion with those who know more about this than i do. not sure if i'm coming off as argumentative, but i assure you i'm not. just asking follow up questions. I included a quote of that post just to put my reference in context. maybe i misunderstood what that guy was saying because perhaps he was trying to get another message across.
