Swinging Weights

Was under the rear-end yesterday to see if the trailer plug could be reoriented to vertical (it can't) and noticed the dumbell-like weights at the end of each frame-rail. Surprised to see that they are loose. What gives?

Well the literal answer to what gives, is the weights do
They are harmonic dampeners and they are supposed to give to do their job of dampening vibrations. Everything is A-OK.
