I just traded a guy for a 1997 Discovery. It is a very nice truck, but I am having some problems. The transmission is shifting very hard between each gear. If I speed up and do not take my foot off the gas it shifts easier, but if I am on a road where I can not speed up at constant rate it shifts hard. What can I do to fix this problem?

First welcome to the forum.

Second, when you post a question, please try to provide some vehicle background if you can, at least the mileage if nothing else.

My guess with very limited knowledge other than hard shifting would be U-Joints or drive shaft coupling http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/TVF100010G.cfm

The Discovery has 65,000 miles on it. I traded for it on 5-15-08 It has a lot of small thing that do not work [ interior switches ] But I do not know any more than this.

A 97 with 65k, then I would bet the coupler is about dry rotted and needs changed, you can upgrade to a regular drive shaft if you don't mind spending the extra money.

either way it is hard to tell without knowing more, or what you consider hard shifting, it could just be normal rover shifting.
