Hey all, got some very heavy rain yesterday. Opened the passenger side door up to a puddle of water on the floor and immediately realized that I didn’t drive yesterday in the rain. Opened up behind the glove compartment to find that it seemed like it came from the AC air intake and was coming out the door that is used to change the cabin filter. I know the windshield cowl is a bit warped out of shape and I’m guessing that’s my #1 culprit. I was thinking sunroof drains but the rubber mat was wet and the carpet under it was barely damp and I know sunroof drains usually leak in the floor and then come to the top of the carpets. Also the water on the blower motor makes me think I’m on the right track. There is already a forum on this and I’ll link it down below but I just wanted to post and make sure I’m not missing anything else that it could be before I buy the cowling and those stupid A puller trim clips that always break.

Any other thoughts? Thanks!

I agree it’s likely the cowl cover. Mine is tweaked too on the passenger side, I will need to keep an eye out. Last I looked fcpeuro carried them.

I live in Western OR.....lots of rain here.
It's been my experience (on LR3s mostly) that aftermarket cowl covers are more problematic that OEM.
Wither way, I'd apply some RTV silicone to the edges.

Agreed, if it's not the sunroof drains then it's the cowl.
Take a close look at where the rubber cowl seal meets the windshield pretty much directly in front of the passenger seat, it's a virtual certainty that the rubber is not touching the glass.
At that exact location underneath, the air intake extends a scoop forward and water leaking at that spot will enter the scoop and end up on the passenger floorboards.

Replacing the cowl is relatively straight forward, until I can make a video here are a couple hints.
The replacement cowl comes with the tabs, you don't need to purchase any, BUT you will need to remove the A frame covers and you will need new tabs for that, the tabs from Atlantic British are nicer than the ones you get from Rover (or at least mine were...)
Be careful when removing the A frame covers so you don't scratch the underlying paint and/or damage the cover itself.
Use a small "steering wheel puller" tool when removing the wiper arms, less than $20 at Amazon.
Note where the wiper arms are located as you remove them so you can get them back in place.

I need to run, and can't find the exact information, but the auto glass folks have this adhesive double sided stick gasket stuff on a roll that they use, it's available on Amazon.
When I put on a new cowl, I put down a "bead" of it on the glass, located so it would seal to the cowl in case the rubber leaked, I laid it down so it would channel any water away from the passenger side scoop and off both sides to the edge.
It's been through several northern winters and no issues about retained water freezing up to cause any issues.

Wow! I actually found my remaining partial roll in the garage!

Copy and paste this into Amazon.

ZXMT PROMOTOR Butyl Sealant Tape 2PCS Sealants Butyl Rubber Tape for Installing Car Part, Windows, Doors and Windshield or Other

Looks like lots of options to choose from.

Here is the wiper arm puller tool.

My vendor for most parts is LandRover Palm Beach On-Line Parts
A bit more expensive than some, but very easy to work with and very dependable.

I see that I did my cowl in Spring 2021, I would hope that they are still available??
I need to do another 2.....
