I've got a 2000 Disco II....

Came home today to find this part lying in the floor of the garage. It was lying (approximately) near where the rear axle would be when parked just about dead center from left to right. I've taken her off road a bit in the last month or so and she's been through some good sized rocks, climbs, etc....

I would GREATLY appreciate any help in identifying this piece and where it came from, what the heck I should do about it, etc....

Photos of this hard rubber piece (after I rinsed all the dirt and grime off of it):

My wife is getting a real laugh at my expense while I stress over the idea that my Rover is literally falling apart....

Under rear axle between axle and chassis. It fell off a plate that is approximately 3x5 inch . I think they must be vulcanized to the metal plate. Rust does a number to them. Thinking about drilling a small *** thru the rubber then attaching it to the plate with tie wraps. They are just bumpers that keep the axle from bottoming out on the chassis.

Thank-You sooo much for the quick reply! I will get to this in the morning!! I'm guessing there are several more around the vehicle I should be checking on as well?

Yup there are four of them. Two in front and two on the back. Just one of mine fell off. The other is getting ready to come off .

looks like this one is just one of two that have fallen off. I suppose they cost a small fortune....

I suppose they might be expensive. With a little imagination one could make one out of old tires or other type material and mechanically attach it. After all it's just a stop. A new one would probably fall apart just as quickly.

HiCountry Offroad also sells a set of bump stops that mount inside the springs on the rear. They are made using an aftermarket polyurethane bushing that does not tend to fall off over time. I noticed that they are not on their webstore so you may want to call them.

it's a rubber block that stops axle from hitting frame the next big chuck hole you hit would have let you know it was gone. look on both sides along frame you should see others
