Will 2015 LR4 running boards fit 2012 LR4?

I purchased a set of running boards that a 2015 owner removed from his LR4 and I just realized that they are technically different parts from the 2012 running boards. Apparently the 2015 running boards come as a mandatory option and have been beefed up for 2015 to pass federal safety regulation...


What I need to know is whether or not the screw mounting pattern is the same on the 2012 side steps as it is on the 2015?

My guess would be yes, they should fit.

I bought a 2012 LR4 last year and had the dealer install the standard running boards for kiddos ease of entry and they did it same day so that would lead me to believe they were on the shelf and thus a standard pattern.

The bracketry on the 2015 running boards is different than pre-15 which is the main reason I ask. They have obviously made this a more structural piece - i assume for the safety regulations...

The bracket is now one piece and very "chunky". I THINK the bolt patterns are still the same, but it looks like it may have two more bolts than the pre-15 running boards. What I don't know is if those 2 extra bolt holes exist in my 2012 body. Those two extra bolts are by the center pillar... now 4 bolts vs 2

The two boards (dealer installed accessory for 2010-14 and standard ones for 2015+) aren't even remotely similar. You might be able to install the earlier ones on later model years - but why would you? You have boards already... But I don't think the new boards - which are really more of a side bumper / crumple zone disguised as running boards - would fit on MY2014 and earlier without modifications to the chassis.

Installed tonight... They do fit. As I stated there are a few extra bolts for the 2015+ running boards that the pre 15 boards did not have. Those 4 bolt holes do not exist on the pre 15 chassis. pre 2015(11 bolts), 2015+ (15 bolts).

The side skirts require quite a bit more trimming than the pre 15 kit as well. Due to the 15+ running board mount being one piece vs 3 separate brackets.
