So, on a side question...

I obviously got some debris on the rear window in the big snow I was in last week... the debris ended up putting some scratches on the rear window in the wiper path. One deeper than the others. The wipers are in great shape, though. D'oh!

Anyone have any experience with people that remove scratches from glass...? I'm not taking a polishing compound to the glass myself. :D

I just noticed a large amount of scratches is my rear windshield near the motor assembly.

Grommet, did you ever figure out how to get yours removed?

i'ts been around 6-7 months since i changed to the Bosch Icon 422 (A&B) wipers and a Bosch Microedge Excel wiper for the rear.

all 3 are streaking now - with rain use only - as there hasn't been any snow yet around my area.

i've recently changed to the Michelin Radius wipers on another car. lets see how they hold up.

ewww, anyone else notice this?

I'm at about 35K now with the original factory wipers. Was just about to shell out the $44 for a pair of Icon's. Maybe that $70 for the factory option from LR isn't bad if I can get another 30,000 miles out of them.

Can anyone who isn't selling (pimping) sill blades vouch for their lifespan?

I can say that I have been running Sill Blades for about 2 years now... that is two winters and they do occasionally get turned on when ice is still on the window... and they still work flawlessly. I would buy another set in a heart beat, and I am planning on doing so for my car and my van. I don't think I would buy any other type after using these for two years.

And I could only wish to be getting a commission for half the things I recommend.

Are these the sill blades you would get for the LR3?
(they look like they have the frameless design, similar to the Icons)

i would recommend those. I FORMERLY worked in a speed shop and pushed Silblades to anyone speaking wipers or vision in general. I do not work in the industry any longer but can tell you, you will not be disapointed. I recommend buying local, because if you ever have problems, they will just swap them out. Most parts in the US come from Keystone Automotive Warehouses. I know for sure they let the distributors return them for any reason. We always did. Silblade Flexblade are well worth the $45 for the pair. JMO.

...I'm sure some of you are sick of this wiper thread, but here's another option for you.

All the shops in my area were sold out of Icon 422A blades (only had the 422Bs - and some posts here recommended one of each), the sillblades seemed like a little bit of a hassle to get at every web site I found them at and no local shops carried them, so I came across these from RainX;

It has that same frameless countoured shape as the Icon design, but claims to have graphite infused rubber or something, while the Icon only claims standard rubber.

Anyway, Pep Boys had them with rebate forms from Rain-x, buy one get one free, so at half the price of the Icons they didn't have in stock anyway...it seemed like a good purchase. I'll let you know if they don't work, for now, they're on and look fine.

Will do.

I'm sure the blades are better than untreated rubber, but probably not as good as the sillblades. The Icons look to me that they're just normal rubber blades in a fancy frame.

Its just a matter of time before every wiper manufacturer realizes that if they make a frameless wiper, they can charge $22 per blade!
