To add: the 510hp SC v8 did not go away and continues to this day in FFRRs and RRSes. The 375hp N/A v8 got replaced by the SCv6.

Wow I’m actually surprised about them plugging two cylinders. They basically made a less powerful Engine that weighs basically the same. I always thought it was a myth that the block was the same with two cylinders plugged. (Similar to the myth of the 5.0L AJV8 is the same Ford 5.0L V8, it’s not, instead of an in house jag produced V8 like it is)

here's this regarding v6/v8 comparison; essentially the same block casting just with smaller cylinder bore/****** for the scv6:
https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a...g-a-v-6-by-declaring-two-cylinders-redundant/

My thinking is that this would be a much easier swap on the later LR4s since it will (should) just drop in. The electronics may be different but since HP Tuners supports '14 and up, it may not be as difficult. I wonder if the scv6 and scv8 have the same type of ECUs; if so, a simple re-map may be all thats needed....

LR038618 seems to be the ECU part number that comes back for both v6sc and v8sc rovers... Presumably, the firmware is different across different models -- I can't imagine its just a CCF change?

I know that for the early model SCV8 engines it’s a Bosch ECU. Then they switched it to a different manufacturer. FYI, the newer ECU is actually more tunable then the original Bosch. Hence why I called all the tuning shops and tried to get them to Re-write the ECU VIN encoding but they couldn’t. Not only that. They can only Re-map for a little extra power, 600-620 vs the newer ECU the can tube it up close to the 700HP range.

This is the picture I remember, I thought that they was a 7 and cylinder plugged, but I was wrong. Does kinda look like it is though

We'll if @Tapps33 found out that having the other modules would fool the new ECU into thinking its a RRS, then it may be that simple for us SCV6 folks. We "should" have all of the same sensors/modules for the engine to operate as the SCV8, so a re-write of files may me the ticket. It would be very intriguing to try it out.

Just to be clear, the ECU and other boxes all came from the same RRS. So technically....from a computer standpoint it is a RRS.....just sitting on an LR4 frame.

The theory is that the other auxiliary modules are are identical between the different platforms, and are not VIN encoded. While I have not actually tried it yet, according to the folks at BlackBox Solutions, I should be able to edit the CCF stored in the RRS modules to reflect the actual configuration of my LR4.

Again, this is just a theory, and until I can find some stinking garage space to get this all done, I won’t be able to test it.

The only real problem I see is if there’s a firmware conflict between the existing modules and the RRS modules....we all know Land Rover won’t touch my LR4 to help correct it.....and I’m not paying the gargantuan price to buy the firmware programmer and associated software to sort it all out either....
So, all I can do is put it together and hope it plays nice!!!

New here and been following for awhile, but just wanted to chime in. I currently am getting a 5.0L SC put into my 2012 LR4 and should be installed within the next week. For the modules, we all seem to know just throwing in the SC ecu won't work, I tried, engine won't turn over. However, I replaced the following modules while the N/A 5.0 was still in-place and the engine started fine (albeit, it was not the SC engine so threw a lot of codes BUT it means the SC engine should fire up no issue):

Modules:

ECU/ECM [9w83-12B684-Rb]
-
engine bay, behind fuse box

Instrument Cluster (IPAC) [Ch22-10849-ad]
-
this can be reprogrammed with a $20 EEPROM programmer to change VIN and mileage to the LR4's and to add the LCD RR instrument cluster if desired

Body Control Module (BCM)

- behind the glove box

Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) [BJ32-19H440-BG]
- behind rear passenger side panel between the 2nd and 3rd row

Keyless receiver [ah42-15k602-ac]
- between driver seat and 2nd row driver side seat under the headliner

Keyless Entry Sensor [Ah4n-15607-ae]
-
inside lower steering column trim

KVM Antenna (Ch22-15k602-cb)
-
up under the front overhead lights / sunroof controls

I also replaced the anti lock brake pump/module in the engine bay but not sure if necessary. Engine started without it being switched.

NOTE: You have to get all these modules from the same Range Rover sport. A full sized RR's Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) [BJ32-19H440-BG] has only two plug slots, a sport has 3 like the LR4.

In addition, to get the engine to work, you will need to wire in the auxiliary pump for the intercooler. I was able to figure out where it went and add it to the existing body harness of the engine bay (NOT the engine wiring harness, there's two in the bay). I did this by buying a RR sport harness, comparing it to the LR4 and adding it in, it has a power wire that goes to the fuse box, another to the ECU plug, and wires into some brown existing wires. I have a rough video and pictures saved of where and what slots this is wired into.

The engine wiring harness will need completely replaced along with obviously the engine, its front face components for the pulley system and the intercooler and some hosing that differs from the LR4's.

After replacing the modules the LR4's rear AC/heat would not work and the door locks including the rear lower hatch would not function, so the CCF of the BCM will need edited. That is my next step once its all running.

This is a lot and not trying to hijack a thread, but any questions just ask.
