Highway use was nice from what I have done with them. I honestly don't sell a lot of that brand but they came factory on my fathers truck which I have drove many times. Nice quiet and smooth but as far as off road I haven't used them for that. He probably wouldn't appreciate that haha. They drive nice. I have replaced quite a few sets from people that have bought them online and I installed there new ones and it is always a good sign if they replace it with the same exact model.

Yes mine are the Conti's. I was very surprised after reading several threads here that I will be getting close to 35K out of them. I do not do a lot of stop and go and avoid braking in a curve.

Jim

I am now up to ~42,000 miles on my Conti's and I am heading for a short trip next week so I figured it is time to switch tires. No sense in taking a chance on the highway.

Has anyone had any luck with Michelin Latitudes?

They make several 'latitudes'... I am going to assume you mean the Latitude Tour HP in stock size, 19"?

They look like a good choice for a pure street tire. not going to be off road worthy.

Those may even be on my list for my 19" after my contis go. They wont be good in the winter, but for pure road use they look great. They are even 'green' rated, meaning low rolling resistance, e.g. quite. They are load rated enough for towing most things also.

I'll have to see how I like the aggressive A/T tires on my 18"... I may want some more summery, yet still AT tires to keep them looking nice. I'll also probably want to upsize a bit from the 255/55R19.

You are correct I was looking at the Latitude Tour HP. I was looking for something that was at least as quiet as the Conti's but would be better in light snow. The Conti's are not good at all in that aspect.

I had some Latitude Tour HP's on a previos Mercedes ML and they didn't seem to do too well in light snow and slush. Personally I wouldn't buy them again for use in light snow conditions. Plus I only got about 25,000 miles out of them. But in typical Michelin fashion, they were a nice and quiet highway tire.

I replaced the 19" Lat Tour HPs on my wife's RR with the Pirelli ATR's , and have about 10K miles on them. They exceed the Lat's in dry/wet grip, noise and ride. They, of course, have much better traction off-road. Have not had them in the snow yet.

My wife would **** me if I put noisy AT's on her truck, but she actually prefers them to the Michelins. So yes, I can have my cake and eat it too, as I do end up taking her Rover off-road quite a bit.

This surprises me. It seems like everyone I have talked to thought the Lat Tour HP's were one of the quietest road tires yet you feel the Perelli ATR's are at least as quiet?

I have no need for off road capable tires but I would like something that is a tad quieter than the Conti's but have better snow grip.

Jim, yours were the Conti's? If so, you did very well on the 31K miles. My best friend had an 06 RRS that had the same tire (different size I think) and he ran the Conti's out at 20K. I know its very subjective to "type of use", but I like the comparisons, and hearing others experiences. So far, I love the Perelli's, and am looking forward to how they perform this coming winter.

Cheers,

Joe

I must be the exception, I still have the factory Conti's on my Lr4 and have 43k miles on them. I expect them to last another 2-3k miles at the most. I think I am going to try some high-quality Michelin's or Perelli's next. Something quieter and smoother than the Conti's, seeing that the Conti's are sort of a "base" type tire. But, overall the factory Conti's haven't been that bad, they have actually surprised me.

I recently noticed that the Pirelli ATRs are discontinued. That would have been my choice to replace the OE Contis on our LR4 in spring. We ran the ATRs on our LR3 and really liked them. We now have the LTZs on the LR3 which are fantastic on the beach in sand and very good in the rain as well. We run Nokian Hakka winter tires, but if you are looking for an all season tire that is good in snow, the Nokian WRG2 may be your best choice.

You will definitely find some help on this forum in regards to tires. First, please let us know a bit more about how you use your LR4, etc. For example, do you have to drive in a lot of rain, snow, ice? Do you go off roading at all or only street driving?

Give us a few more details and I am sure people will be happy to help. I have the Cooper Zeon LTZs on my LR4 - these are a nice on/off-road combination tire. If you do only street driving and some snow/ice, then you would likely want to opt for a different tire.

Let us know!

How were your Cooper's this past winter in the snow on the streets? I'm in Utah too, don't get off road much but want a tire that's good on the roads but also good on the roads in our Utah winters when it dumps a few feet of snow. What do you think my best tire option is, 255 55 19?
