Has anyone put these on their LR4? Have pics? Are they for towing?

I thought they looked a bit small for that. So what ARE these for? Those are not for towing. Tow it on a trailer, using a trailer hitch

Dear Annoyed Friend,Google "shackle recovery gear" for all the details. Short story, these go on the front and/or rear recovery points on your Rover. They are used in conjunction with a ****** strap during recovery operations when you are being yanked, or yanking someone else, out of trouble. They have other uses in recovery but this is one of them.
I will throw this bit of advice in. NEVER attach a tow strap to the ball of a trailer hitch as a way of pulling someone out of trouble or towing another vehicle. Even in an emergency that is a terrible and potentially deadly idea.
My other advice is to spend more time researching the techniques for safe towing and recovery BEFORE you go shopping for gear. Frankly, part of me is annoyed that you asked this question, and part of me is thankful that you did ask before going out and trying something dangerous. Stay safe.
If you ever do look for a D-Ring, my preferred brand is Crosby. That's just me but I have always gravitated to them. They are made in the USA and they are extremely durable.
Dear Annoyed Friend,
I wasn’t shopping for gear.
