You can easily deactivate TPMS spare tire monitoring (or turn off TPMS altogether) with your IIDTool, it's one of the options in the CCF.

If I had all that space from the spare tire available, I'd be looking into an auxiliary fuel tank retrofit kit, I know they are available in Australia.
OK, here is a dumb question (I just want to confirm).... I don't need to keep the IIDTool plugged into the port all the time once I change the setting - right? It changes the setting whether it's plugged in or not until I change it back?

Just want to confirm.

Correct. Basically you are rewriting the CCF (Car Configuration File) stored in the car with new information, which gets written to the car permanently - or until you change the file (or restore the original one) again.

Follow the CCF writing instructions to the letter as the procedure may be a bit disconcerting otherwise... IIDTool will walk you through them, but there will be lights flashing, your clock and calendar will need to be reset and a specific sequence of ignition on / off needs to be followed to successfully rewrite the CCF. After you do it once you will feel a lot more comfortable doing it again.

Do you ever use it for those purposes?

I was wheeling in Big Bear and aired down all weekend long (we held our local club's Rover Rendezvous get-together) and didn't bother. The TPMS fault light and warning triangle didn't bother me much... But it would only take a couple of minutes to make them disappear with IIDTool.

Awesome! Very helpful. I'll be sure to follow the instructions to the "t" for disarming the spare tire TPMS.

Hi David,
We are in the same boat.
Just quick explanation for other people.
David and I , we both ordered PD1880 at the same time and received them last Friday.
We both were going back and forth as for the tire selection and looks like we both decided on BFG At KO 265/65R18.
Back to the message. One of my 5 wheels is chipped too ( on the outside lip of the rim).
I sent Barry several pictures and he filed a damage claim with UPS. He also asked if I could get a quote from a local alloy repair shop.
In my case a carton in which the wheel arrived had a little dent but far away from the lip of the rim. I suspect that the wheel had been was packed damaged.
Otherwise wheels are great. I got anthracite gray color. ( Nara Bronze LR4)
I was quoted around $130 for repair/ repaint.
I will email an estimate to Barry and will wait for his response.
it is frustrating . I think they should improve their quality control.
So far Barry was very responsive and I can not say anything bad about him.
He responded very promptly to all my emails , questions and concerns.

I am still not sure if I will put my new wheels permanently or only when off roading. This has to do with my wife for whom LR4 is a daily driver. If she is in love with new set up wheels will stay on the car and I am planning to put my spare under the truck ( will have to be deflated because of the new tire size), then for off roading I will put in into a cargo area inflated.
Could someone recommend a rotation pattern and schedule for 5 wheels .
Thanks

That's so funny - what a small world!

The location of your chip is very similar to mine - how weird! I agree, I don't think this happened during transit because the box (as you can see from the photo above) is fine with no evidence of damage. I am beginning to think these wheels might be damaged left overs maybe sent back to Compomotive??? I hope not!

You are just slightly ahead of me, as I just e-mailed an alloy wheel repair specialist today with the photos and I am waiting on a quote. I am very curious to see if Barry will offer to pay for the repair or if UPS will buy us a new wheel.

I'll keep you posted - please let me know when you hear from Barry.

Regards, David

I hope I will hear something from Barry tomorrow. He was very helpful so far.
I don't know if these were left overs or not. If they were leftovers, then they do not have black wheels any more. I asked him before I ordered mine. You got the last black wheels.!!!
If these are one of the last PD1880 available , good for us.
I agree that damage did not take place in transit. It would be nice if they send us new wheels and let us keep the damaged rims.
This was a service I got from Costco.com when I ordered my patio furniture in the past.
I ended up having 3 patio tables when paying just for one ( 1st and 2nd table had minor damage). I sent them pictures of the damaged product and they sent me a new table(s). no questions asked.
Lets wait and see.

I would imagine whatever he decides to do for you, he will do the same for me - so I am very curious to hear what he tells you. You are welcome to drop my name and tell him that we both had an issue - maybe we could use that tactic if he says he can't do anything?

I have a feeling like they are very low on stock - if any at all.

That first damage picture looks like a factory defect. Otherwise it wouldn't be so bubbly around the dent. Looks fishy to me.

You guys might be getting the leftovers from the bottom of the bin. Although it would be wierd for comp to not just fix them in the factory... its entirely done in one place including paint, and they have a multi step inspection and finish process that sounds very meticulous.

Mine where perfect.
