Nathan are you really going to Calico with SD in a couple of weeks? It would be nice to
have another LR3 owner along.

Well, I'll be in my Jeep. It has a winch, so come on along and bring the LR3 :)

Just teasing you. I think you've got sliders and decent tires if memory serves? You'll be fine. I'll get you through. I've done it before in my LR3, and all the hard parts were a piece of cake for me. Where I struggled was on the easy parts! Seriously! The "hard' parts are the dry waterfall ledges, that the traction control just walked right up. I had more challenges in the loose rock field areas, but you've got a significant advantage with the air suspension, and I wasn't lifted much at the time. I'll be your spotter. You'll be challenged, but you'll have fun, I guarantee it. We got Adam's RRS through without a scratch last year.

Calico photos from the previous years are here: http://blog.nextstepdesigns.com/?cat=25

Doesn't that require you to lose the factory access height?

YES but it takes 15 min to put the stock sensors on when you get home. You dont even need to remove the tires, it takes longer to jack the vehicle up than to swap out the arms

Nice truck JForeman, awesome fall colors too. Love your attitude about taking it to the trail!

Note; you might want to remove the trailer hitch when off roading, it is a fairly silly design that will impede your off road progress. Might also think about removing the side steps before Moab too :)

For sure! I have taken measures to protect my sidesteps (some steel welded to the bottom and modifications to how they fasten) and if not for that they would've been peeled off by rocks, stumps, roots, etc....a long time ago!

If I knew ahead of time that this was going to grow into such a big hobby for me I would've saved my money and bought the aftermarket sliders; but at the time I didn't know what a "slider" was...mini hamburger? That's all I knew.

...and now that I have the LR sidesteps and like them, I spent a little dough to protect them. I'm okay with that but if/when I eventually lose them, I will go with a legit slider.

Hey Foreman you might need to invest in tires too. Please send pics from Moab.

Anyone done Hell's Gate in an LR3? Nathan...?

Hells Gate: I know that Spiker did it in his RRS two years ago, and I think that David Lane and Ray Irvine have both done it in their LR3's, but I'm not 100% certain of it.
