Should I switch to synthetic oil?

broiler, what were your great results? That your cars kept running? Not that I'm against synthetic, I just find it hard to believe that anyone short of a Formula 1 team would ever notice a difference.

I've seen some tests that show Synthetic lowers the internal friction in the engine versus conventional oil and thus they were able to eak another 10hp or so out of the engine. I'm somewhat skeptical of that (10HP is a pretty healthy amount to the wheels on a dyno), but that could be one reason.

The other reason for me is that I'm lazy! If I were using conventional oil then I'd want to change the oil every 3,500 miles. With synthetic I feel safe going twice that. Since sythetic is about twice the price of conventional (the gap narrows as dino oil gets more expensive!), then the cost ends up being about the same. Less worry and work is all WIN for me!
