Air down tires off road for 2006 LR3 without all-terrain tires?

Hey guys, new to the site. I just bought a '06 LR3 and was going to take it up to the Rincon Shortcut OHV trail (supposed to be pretty easy, a beginner trail, really). I've heard that airing down non all-terrain or stock tires puts too much pressure on the rims as there's not enough sidewall. Love to hear anyone's opinion on this!

Welcome to the forum. My opinion is never air down tires unless you have a way to air them back up easily. With that said, most tires that are not rated as "all-terrain" may have a softer sidewall, which can puncture easier than "all-terrain" tires.

Is true that airing down will help in off road conditions, sand or when you need more contact patch to surface. I found its not really needed with this cars as 4 wheel drive and the software will do most of the work. Airing down the tires might improve the ride but You need to have a way to air up once you leave the trail. Its possible that you will separate the bead from the rim if you are using street tires as the walls are soft then you will have a sudden flat tire. BE PREPARED .
