My thought is that it only is added camouflage material and that the rear will be very similar to the Sport or full size RR.

I like it. Square back-end, good sight-lines, and lots of sidewall. Like those wheels too.

Kinda bummed we lose the split tailgate with the little Z shape to it. I enjoy sitting on the shorter part of the tailgate with the longer glass overhang protecting from the elements.

I just hope at the very least the truck retains the split tailgate.

Thanks for sharing that AxelR, I had missed the posting.

It looks to me that they squared off the rear look by adding the rear extension around the window, straightened the rear windows and kept a B-Pillar between them. All of which definately reduced the soccer mom look and keeps a touch of the current look. I am actually more hopeful after seeing this revision. The rest looks very similar to the concept vehicle...
I think what you are seeing (squared look) is just a facade they put up to obviscate the outline. The body likely follows the line of the rear window which tilts back.

I took a close look at the back and don't see any cuts in the wrap that would indicate a tailgate...which means a bloody liftgate. I hate lift gates.

On the updside, looks like an integrated hitch at bumper height instead of the convoluted receiver we have to put in currently.

Well I do not really know for sure, but I figured that white bar at the top is a third brake light bar and that this is a split liftgate where the top half goes up (including the squared off extention) and the bottom opens down, sort of like it is now.

I am not a huge seeker of spy shots, but I don't recall seeing one where they added fake pieces to a vehicle to fool people. Maybe they do this and I am just unaware.

I can see what you are suggesting. Maybe it will be an optional spoiler that is not standard on all of them? I guess we will see soon enough, let the speculation begin!

Tires look to be on the verge of pizza cutters..That antenna on top looks huge, you would think they could make it a little smaller these days...

You can directly compare the Vision concept rear end here:

Tires look to be on the verge of pizza cutters..

This is unfortunately wrong. Manufacturers do add as much extra bits in order to hide the shape of the vehicle especially at this stage. If you pay attention to the sides by the rear doors you'll see that there's extra padding there as well.
As far as the tailgate it's pretty undefined difficult to see if it's one section or two. As a reminder the full size RR still has a top and bottom. The Discovery might get a similar approach with a bench that comes out electrically or can slide out.
Regarding the tires, I also like the looks of wider tired but in reality very few vehicles need thick tires. Tired these days are extremely grippy and slightly narrower tires offer better fuel economy. It could also be a sign of how much lighter this platform is...

Yet, those cookie cutter wheels will severely limit aftermarket wheel / tire combos. The spy shots look far more like a minivan wheel / tire combo to me too. I just do not want to see this vehicle taken even further away from its off-road capability. The base Discovery already fills the soccer-mom grocery getter segment.

Probably shouldn't read too much into those shots, it is obviously a very early test mule, could be a hybrid running low-drag tires for a good reason. You can see quite a bit of temporary body cladding applied here and there in those shots to partially hide the body lines. On the photo below you can make out obvious panels applied to the upper part of the lift gate, above the rear door handles, on the front bumper...

One thing I notice is the brakes. I can't tell the size of those tires and rims, but they look like 19", and there seems to be plenty of clearance around discs and calipers to possibly go smaller. Unlike the new Sport and Range Rover, maybe the brakes of the new Disco will manage to stay small enough to allow 18" wheels to still fit, which would be a welcome surprise.

Fun, can't wait to learn more about it as hopefully more info will start becoming readily available.

I love my '14 lr4 and its design, but I wouldn't want to stay stuck in the past either.

I'm really looking forward to a better infotainment system (CarPlay!).
