po 1173 Lambda sensor aging tv bank 2Drive cycle C:Signal out of range - above maximum / below minimum Indicates pass side o2 sensor out of range - are you sure they're both plugged in? are there any defects/poor wire connections? A quick search on the 'net leads to pvc hose leak (vacuum...

    97 Disco cruise control

Can't supply PDF, but all hoses are hardware-store 1/4" rubber Run from vacuum pump located behind/under driver's side headlight to "t" near brake booster, from "t" to rubber actuator @ throttle linkage, then thru' firewall to release switch @ brake pedal arm. maybe 8' of hose? Cruise...

    ticking or tapping noise

If I were your mech, I'd have checked your oil press 1st with a test ga. Having said that, these engines are sludge producers, (all alum), if you haven't changed the oil every 3k miles, it's quite possible your lifters are dirty. The fact it gets worse after warmup tells me your using some...

    Mold in the Radiator?

I think maybe you want to read the shop manual (download below in my sig.) Dexcool is used in DII's as far as I know, the DI uses the green stuff (I've always used prestone or equiv. in mine) - DO NOT mix the two, but a thorough water flush is sufficient to remove whatever is in there. I...

    DI mirror replacement

This morning I mounted a new $13.99 10" day/night mirror (O'reilly's auto parts) (Plus a tiny tube of mirror adhesive) Like many, my auto mirror has been getting that oil separation for years & I heard horror stories about them dripping. I reluctantly followed the Rave & fulcrumed the old...

    Mold in the Radiator?

Here comes the opinions, I've always (last 40 yrs) flushed with plain water if there's no sediment buildup in core Visible thru' top plug in rad. The product I've used recently was prestone radiator CLEANER (not flush) - requires you to drive around normally for (2) days to really clean...

    97 Disco SE7 Runnning Hot

Try clicking on the "search" tab for overheat and read away (there's 96 threads) Could be fan clutch, tstat, pump, clogged rad(inside or out), bad headgaskets, air in system, etc. luck, greg

    transmission issue?

that's a shame - The output speed sensor tells the trans when to shift, I'd go for that, it's way cheaper than tearing your trans apart. The trans people make money on tearing apart or replacing transmissions, not spending 20mins replacing a hundred dollar part (if it costs that much) that...

What is the best Rover for the Pan American Highway?

Not that you'd want to, I don't think they'll let you in with a gun, but I encourage you to bring pepper spray (a REAL can) for self defense. Unless your DII is a real beater (unlkely) it's going to stick out when outside urban areas. Good luck, I'm jealous, God's speed, send pics luck, greg

    transmission issue?

I'd take a good look at your u-joints and your diff oil. You said it made "clicking" noises It's not uncommon for u-joints to "click" just b/4 they break. luck, greg

    GForce Performance chip for Discovery

Some of my thoughts over the last 50yrs of messing with engines - $10 per HP is a good rule. $200 for headers, maybe 20-25hp incr. $200 for a cam set - same So if I thought for an instant, Other than nitrous, there was a magic pill, I'd be on it. I bet it says - UP TO 60hp. The AIT...

    Drive Shaft

Did it break or did you remove it? If it broke, have you inspected the transmission housing - looking for signs of impact, cracks, holes, etc. Generally what happens when front breaks. If none, and you have a working center diff lock, lock it and drive. (at least until you can repair...

New battery - no IDM to BCU communication!

I'm guessing you have SOME indication of power, have you tried plugging in an OBDII reader? - See if you've got any relevent codes? What caused you to replace the CPS? luck, greg

    Help with head gasket please.

Don't jump the gun here. you've fixed several leaks, and coolant doesn't evaporate easilly. if the coolant on your exhaust is from a leak above, it can boil and smoke sitting on the exh. Do you have coolant in the oil? (chocolate milkshake color) - NO = good. Does your top rad hose...

    Hot Transmission

If you think about it, the trans cooler is immersed in the radiator. The engine coolant (200deg.) runs thru' to cool down, it's not unusual to have 240deg. in auto trans. luck, greg

    Dead Disco

The gearshift is electrically unlocked by solenoid, normally, when you push the brake, you'll hear the solenoid release in the console. No power = no solenoid release. Might be corroded batt terminals, or blew the 100a fuse behind the batt. I agree, odd that you have nothing luck, greg

    1996 Disco 1 overheats

As Joey alluded to, the chemical test should detect combustion gases in the coolant (common cause of rock hard hoses) This would indicate a poor head job (seriously, no pun intended) You state - new heads, drive it thru' their front window.(that was a pun) Ditto on the do not drive...

    Abs Fault Reset -- Di

I don't know, Tom, it seems (I've driven several times since yesterday) to have worked. I usually make a full lock left u-turn in front of my house (80% chance of tripping), I've made 3 since process with no light. I did my hubs a week ago, it was still tripping after that.(but not since...
