Aftermarket Radio Install, wiring harness issue

The amplifier under the passenger seat ONLY gets audio info from the fiber optic cables, called the MOST bus. ALL of the onboard systems that use 'sound' thru the speakers are daisy chained off the MOST bus. This includes the phone/bluetooth, NAV/GPS, stereo, voice control, etc. If your...

    Alternator going bad?

Mine failed with a short in one of the rectifiers. This did cause a burned electrical smell as the battery discharged through the alternator. Smoke and a very heavy acrid smell at the conclusion. The ECU controls the alternators output, so sometimes a traditional charging system test doesn't...

Snap Behind Steering Wheel Now Controls Don't Work

IIRC, there is video on YouTube showing how to remove the LR3/Disco 3 airbag. It's boltless, but uses two spring type locks. I'm sure a search will bring it up pretty quick.

    aftermarket stereo problem

The factory stereo sends the audio stream to the amplifier on a fiber optic loop, called the MOST bus. Commands and between units type of networking is also carried on the MOST bus. Unless your replacement radio is compatable with the MOST bus you also need to replace the amplifier. I have...

New to the LR3 and the forums

Unfortunately the LR3 does not stream music through bluetooth. It only has a bluetooth phone connection. There is an AUX in using traditional headphone type of jack on the rear of the center console. Folks have use this two ways. First is a regular cable plugged into either the headphone...

Courtesy Lights - Technical, Operator Issue?

Could it be as simple as bad bulbs?

    Bluetooth can not be found

There have been software updates to the phone module since 2006. Some newer phones (who still uses a 2006 phone?) have problems. I believe the original software was mainly written for the hardwired 'dock' in the console with Bluetooth as an afterthought. I, personally, used my Faultmate to...

Ugh, New LCA's are just junk!!

I agree. A company making a product should be making a quality one.

    LR3 Alternator Replacement

Many normal (and older) test machines cannot properly test the LR3's alternator. The engine ECU controls the exact output voltage through a PWM line. It supposedly uses engine temp, time of running, ambient temp, battery voltage, etc.. to "smart" charge the battery for extended life.

    Control Arm Brands

Another option is to "upgrade" to RRSport arms. While I cannot comment on what exactly this accomplishes, there is a lot of chatter about it and various positives on some of the other forums. - especially British and Euro ones. I'm sure a Google search will turn up tons of stuff to read about it.

    nav system acting up

Is it just the navigation? Or is it also happening on the 4x4 info and other screen? If it's just the navigation, it might be the drive unit, or cabling to the unit under the seat?

Finally changed the LR3 oil myself. Much easier than I expected.

I also do my own oil changes. Luckily, it's a California truck so there are currently no issues with the skid plate removal. I decided to use Royal Purple synthetic in the OEM weight. I tend to change in the 5000-7500 range. I put the truck in off-road height and keep a door open and that...

Hot pipes inside rear driver-side storage compartment

I have had my tie-downs in a ZipLock bag in that compartment for a year now, with no issues or signs of the bag melting. There is a factory accessory to hold the OEM tow receiver that goes in that compartment. It is basically molded Styrofoam, and that seems to hold up fine also.

    LR3 low coolant level

I seem to remember reading over on the UK forums that Land Rover had a batch of coolant level sensors that would prematurely fail and give a false reading. To the point that many had the indicator disabled in the CCF (Car Configuration File) from the factory. A new sensor, or tank, should take...

See notes below. I plan to keep my LR3 for quite a while also.

    2007 LR3 HSE maint

It sounds like yours was well maintained. I second the tranfercase and differential oil changes. I would also do the transmission now, especially if you intend to tow or offroad or if you think the previous owners did.

    AC went out!

I'm adding this so someone reading the older post up top doesn't get side tracked..... If the rear is working but the front is not (or the opposite), then it IS NOT a compressor or freon problem as those are shared between the systems. If BOTH A/Cs are out, then it very well could be a...

OE rear locker: Why can't you add it?

It would be a diff swap, as the castings are different. I don't see how a simple switch could work as the actuator is a stepper motor controlling the 'amount' of lock. A stepper motor generally needs a controller of some sort- but that's where my knowledge ends. I guess it could be possible to...

    Key Question 2006 LR3

I've never used them, but eBay has new cases that take your old guts and key blank. There are also silicon sleeves/cases that can probably be used to hold your old cases together.

LR3 tow hitch receiver, maybe harness

$250 with OEM harness or without? Or to phrase it another way...I'll offer $275 for both, shipped to my door. (zip 92530)

MY2013 - Order Now to Get the V8

It's been my experience (albeit not Land Rover) that dealers are generally amung the LAST to know things like this. They generally say what is required to sell you a car NOW - and are not too interested in anything that might make you wait. I'm not saying they are wrong in this case, just...

    Unhappy LR4

Assuming that the techs are qualified and have good attention to detail, why would you avoid this truck? I can see this truck actually being 'better than new' if the work was performed properly. However, I assume it's getting a brand new motor and not having a siezed motor rebuilt. I wouldn't...
