Does not act like a CV joint on Have significant vibration above 65 MPH. Sounds like a flat tire; however all tires are property inflated. Does not react as though it is a wheel based CV Joint. Maybe a driveshaft CV joint? Drives and sounds OK up to 55 MPH. Any Ideas where to look? I will do the repair myself.

Bump. Having same issue. Would love to know where you landed on this.

This only occurs at higher speeds, usually above low-mid 70's but sometimes as low as 65mph. The car will start experiencing heavy vibration that feels almost as if you just lost a low of air pressure. First time it happened that is what I thought it was. I pulled over immediately. I could see nothing wrong with the car. I expected I would have to limp with this vibration to an exit, but as I started driving again, the vibration is totally gone. Once 70+ is reached, rinse and repeat. If speeds are kept to ~65 or below, you never see it. The issue persists after the winter wheel swap, so that is not it. Importantly, the vibration remains at lower speeds once it starts. You have to come to a complete stop to "reset it" and make it go away. It seems like once it reaches a particular harmonics it sticks.

I suspect that is a rear axle thing because the wheel doesn't shake violently. Also, I recently replaced the front lower control arms and bearings and had the car aligned, so I doubt it's the front axle, but could be wrong.

On mine I felt unsafe wobble at 115 MPH. I think it might be a bearing or housing of a bearing out of balance for the AWD system. Maybe an output shaft bearing. Its kinda violent and not something I wanted to push on any harder but in 4th it has more left in it. I also considered a wheel out of balance but not sure. Post back if you find out what the problem is.

Curious if this viberation more of a noise or a feeling. I used to have a slight steering wheel shimmy in the 70-80mph range but around 85 it would be significantly reduced. Ended up being wheel bearings. I still have a slight vibration which is most likely LCAs which I’ll do this summer

Not sure it this is helpful but if you could pinpoint where the vibration is felt (sounds, through the seat, through the floor, through the wheel etc.) that would probably help us to point you in the right direction of where to look.

Does your ASC / ABS engage in mildly sporty cornering?
I had a similar issue in an LR3....with the ASC activation at speed in curves. I thought it was tires....It turned out to be a fried rear wheel bearing.
It wouldn't hurt to have someone re-balance your tires and look for missing weights or debris attached to the inner surface of the wheel at the rim.
Just my $.02....worth everything you paid for it...

Every time this happens I'm driving in a straight line in the highway. Gun to my head, I would say it's the passenger side rear wheel area. It's much more feel than it is noise. What it seems like is almost as if something is rotating "fine" and past a certain point (higher speeds), whatever is rotating is no longer coaxial with a mating component and now you have a oscillatory/cam type contact that once engaged wont center again until it stops rotating. Perhaps it's a worn bushing or something like that.

Do you have any free play on your rear wheels when it's on a lift?
Grab the wheel -pushing 3 o'clock and pulling and 9 o'clock, then reversing.
Then check at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock.
If you sense any play it will warrant further investigating.

check out wheel bearings. my son was driving on highway at 70 or so and started feeling a thump, thump and said it felt like flat tire or something. continued to get worse. Front right wheel bearing was disintegrating...every other car i have owned began to growl or howl when bearings were wearing out but this just came on suddenly and didnt matter if loaded or not

I'll take a look at the rear wheel bearings. Thanks! The front ones I just replaced a year and only 3k miles ago.
