Hi All,

Newer owner of 2011 LR4 HSE v8. Now 113k mikes.

Question on everyone’s compressor, how long does it take to go from Access to Off-Road?

Just recently rebuilt the original Hitachi Compressor and refreshed the valve blocks.

Everything seems to be in order, but going from access to off-road I feel that last push takes a bit (albeit less than a minute in total).

Curious if should get a new compressor or not.

A minute seems pretty long, especially if the air tank is already full. I want to say it takes about 7-10 seconds for each level. (IE 7-10 seconds for access to normal, another 7-10 for normal to off-road)

Good to know, it takes about that 7secs long if I go from Access->Normal or Normal->Off-Road (independently of each other, with a full tank). Might be time.

Is this for real? Same part number as British Atlantic. Fraction of the price. Too good to be true?

Well, if it's not, too late. I bought it. Maybe I can cancel the order if someone tells me it's not the same thing or won't work. I watched a video on servicing the unit and it's not worth the time, effort, and risk if you can get a new part for a bit more than the price of the refurbishing kit.

Your first indication that compressor isn't real should have been the price.

Then when you read the description of that eBay compressor:

This pump only fits for HITACHI style(6 plugs),not for AMK version.
Please note this is for the Hitachi Style Compressor and NOT Hitachi Branded.

Yeah - too good to be true! I bought my AMK in the UK, even with shipping it was a better price but not this ($135) good!

Of course, I am in the process of attempting to contact the seller and cancel the order. We'll see how that goes. The listing is really deceptive. It lists the original part number (LR023964) that is listed on British Atlantic for the OEM Hitachi compressor and it also lists all the years and models it fits and my 2011 LR4 HSE 5.0L V8 is listed (along with every other year and type of LR4).

It's not until you get to the very bottom and read the fine print that you realize that it isn't the same part, but "Hitachi-style" and "OEM quality". Heck, for that price, I'd take a bicycle pump mounted on the rear bumper if it worked and stopped the faults! ;)

Hopefully they let you off the hook and refund any payment as you are correct that is a bit misleading but i have never seen a real Hitachi for less than at least USD 300 and usually more. I will say, however, I am running an amazon hitachi knockoff currently and it works great. I have a new hitachi on the shelf but needed one in a pinch so purchased and installed the amazon one about a year ago; absolutely no problems so far
