I actually love browsing for cars on cars and bids because of how strict they are with their photos.

Every car is for the most part presented the same way. I’ve noticed within the past 6 months or so the listing photos have declined in quality, and I hope it doesn’t get any worse.

In my situation, I had all the required photos already submitted. It was almost like an AI bot evaluated them and found that I needed to submit more, even though I had already submitted what they wanted.

I still don't have a final draft of my listing to look at, even though it was purportedly submitted to the editing team by the Cars and Bids "specialist" Monday morning.

A draft listing was sent to me this morning, and it entirely omitted the fact that the timing chains, guides, and tensioners have already been done. I specifically stated in what I sent them that this is primary information for a LR4 for-sale listing, and I even sent cars and bids the invoice from when the job was done.

Unreal.

Doug DeMuro sold controlling interest in Cars and Bids and his YouTube channel to private equity not long ago. New CEO in charge. Not saying that's all bad, but sometimes things suffer for the bottom line. Wouldn't be surprised if those "specialists" are now offshore.

Used car ads need to have some unique description about them so ad listers can tell the viewer about it. That is a basic fundamental of a used car ad. Craigslist would be a lot better in that respect. They have been around a long time and anyone that is shopping for a used car seriously is going to look at all the sites so I'd tell them to pound sand. That timing chain can be a deal breaker, but now the buyer probably has to go jump through hoops to try to ask you about the maintenance. Those guys sound slimy asf. Aside from that, having maintenance records in any used car ad is a selling point.

I hope to get 200k mi out of my LR4 and have about 106k now. I drove by a sweet G Class out in the desert today and had a lot of want for it with its 3 selectable lockers, body on frame, V8, etc. Those things are tanks but I'm not sure how well they would work out as an overlander even if I had the cash. Plus the attention it would get at swimming holes might be a little much. LR4's are so perfect its like the engineers designed the LR4 specifically for overlanding. I still haven't needed anymore tire and with those BFG's it would seem unstoppable.
