Wait. You wired the relay into the high beam signal correct? If so how come your aftermarket driving lights are on but not your highbeams?

The high beams are on. On the post-facelift headlights, the high beams and low beams are the same bulb.

The smaller light (inside the circle on the DRLs) is the turn signal.

This is all correct. Also you can have a switch.

So anyone know which is the DRL? I don’t want to spend 20 min with a fluke it’s 30 degrees out.

Ahhh that's makes sense...This is why 2014+ drivers complain about crappy headlights. What the hell was LR thinking? Style before substance? FWIW my HSE xenon lights in the LR3 are better than the LR4. It's been downhill since the 3!

I've never seen a 2014+ owner complaint about their headlights.

There are cogent arguments that the high beams in the 2014+ are actually better because its easier for your eyes to adjust between high and low; the only difference between the two being the aim and not necessarily the brightness.

I had a Volvo with bixenons and they were awful. They pulled the same stunt as LR where the focused low angle high beam supplement was for some reason used as a DRL. High beam was just changing the beam pattern. The problem was they did not project far enough down the road for dark higher speed driving. Taking away dedicated lights is never a good solution.

Yeah I have no idea how you drew that conclusion, this thread is literally about the opposite opinion.

?? If the high beams were good there would be no need for auxiliary lights which is what started this thread..

The 2010 had xenons for low beam. Activating high beam refocused the xenon upward and in a high beam pattern (same as the 2014+) AND added a second pencil beam halogen. Both models use the same xenon bulb. Which do you think is better? The LR3 uses deeper reflectors and was designed likely for performance over looks. Again it uses a bi-xenon setup with halogen asist. Best of all lights in NA spec.

Now it looks like some have replaced their NA spec lights for Euro. That is a whole different discussion and yes perhaps those beam spreads are better.

I just upgraded to the 2014s and they are more than adequate for normal use. The aux lights are for off road use, like dune driving. If you said the halogens were bad I’d agree. I have never seen anyone complain about the 2014s.

Since no one responded to my hunt for the DRL wire, it’s the red/orange one.
