Thanks very much Count Laszio.

Update: Picked up my car from service on the 30th of jan. As i drive, i noticed that the steering is still not straight and the whistling noise is still there, but reduced this time. Bumper alignment looked great. No work done on any other stuff (dash fascia stitching, radio knobs, climate control knobs, etc) as requested by me. And wheel alignment was also done.

As for the front end knock, they could not re-create it and the service manager said that he had sent my videos to Land Rover.

About 40 miles were put on my truck (body shop about 4 miles away from service).
The work order said only 8 miles were put on.

I called the service manager and let him know that the steering is still not straight when driving straight. I told him that instead of coming back to him and putting another 80 miles or so on the truck to and from the dealership, i am going to get the rest fixed at the local dealership which is close by.

Got a voicemail from LRNA rep a couple of days after i picked up my car, they said that they had received an email from service that my car has been picked up. I called back last tuesday and left a message for the rep. No call back yet. I also emailed them. No response yet. Instead i get a letter in mail from the rep last week, saying they tried to contact me etc. Purplexed, I am planning to call them tomorrow or day after.

I would continue to complain to LRNA - I just don't think there should be these problems in a brand new LR4. I really feel bad about this situation and hope they can step it up to make things better. It's really unacceptable.

If you get a chance, could you post pictures of the dash fascia stitching issue?

Thanks!

This car is bad luck...too many issues from the start. I'd suggest to get rid of it ASAP. Talk to the dealer and tell them you are not happy with it and ask to swap it for another

Hi all, update on things:

So just to summarize, Last visit to service was right before the 4th of july weekend. Road tested with shop foreman. He recognized the steering knock. But when i went back to pick the car up, the service manager told me that there is nothing wrong with the car and that I'd have to make an appointment with a service field engineer. This is after the shop foreman clearly noticing and recognizing the problem. To demo the issue we drove over the same *** hole type bump over and over again and I made sure that the shop foreman noticed, heard, felt and recognized the issue. Also i emailed the TSB on it to the service manager, to which he responded that he has forwarded that to LRNA.

Meanwhile I noticed other issues like the roof line black trim not being fitted fully seated etc, which they tightened. And now the steering wheel makes a whiney or whistling noise as you turn it, it sounds like the a plastic piece is rubbing against another piece and you do feel the friction sometimes as well. Service recognized that and tried to fix this during last visit but couldn't diagnose the problem. I was told that they are in touch with the factory or something. They kept it for two or three days but I needed the car back for the 4th of july weekend.

I emailed a really frustrated long email to LRNA after this describing my overall experience from sale to service to ownership etc. They called me back and left a message saying they are very interested in trying to resolve the issues etc. Since then I became super busy with work/family etc and LRNA and I played phone tags for a while.

Last thursday I called LRNA and told the case representative I have been working with that I am done with this car and that the only thing that will make me happy and a returning customer is that if they replaced the vehicle. To this he mentioned that he was going to email me the paper work but that I would need to make an appointment with service which I did and dropped the car at service this morning. Also he asked me if my car is being financed or leased.

So this morning I have dropped the car at service again. LRNA told me that the dealership has been told by the factory to try to replace the lower steering column to see if that fixes the problem.

The letter that LRNA case specialist emailed me said the following:

"Dear Mr...,

This letter will confirm our conversation of August 1, 2013 wherein you requested the repurchase of your vehicle.

We will consider your request for a repurchase under the California Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and will provide a response within 30 days.

To facilitate this process, please fax a copy of your sales/lease contract and registration to my attention at ...

I can be reached at ... should you have any questions or concerns in the interim.

Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance."

I guess I do not fully understand the whole process of this repurchasing thing. Is that equal to vehicle being replaced? I don't really want any more haggling process with the dealership. I just want to have the vehicle replaced with the same specs (which is most likely not going to be possible as it was a custom order due to color combination and options etc).

And to add insult to injury. I had a flat sunday night on the freeway. A big piece of metal found lodged in the tire. Its unrepairable per the tire shop so now I may have to shell out $432 (installed) per dealer and a local tire shop estimated around the same. I wonder if I should spend that money if they are going to replace the car.

Eight months have gone by and the vehicle has 5150 some miles on it. As much as I love the car, its just been one frustrating experience.

Yes I do, thats whats being used as of now. Its brand new, not sure if its a good thing to have just brand new tire among others with over 5k miles on them. I guess more work for the diffs. Not good, right?

The remaining tires only have 5K miles on them, they are almost as new as the spare. Don't worry about it.
