I think this is a genuinely new thread: has anyone attempted to fit a water tank under the cargo area floor? There is at least 10 gallons of space there, but it's only 3-4 inches tall and level, so I wonder how to make water flow down to the pump, which I imagine would need to be behind the rear seats. Any ideas?

water tanks are a pita. Too much hassle with the risk of contamination etc. I would just use that area for tools/gadgets and use the ultra handly 10L jugs with dispenser. These are about $4 at the local grocery store and there is no risk of bacteria etc. Fool proof.

Agree with maintenance of a permanent tank being a PITA. Ever been in an RV with a skunky water tank?

I carry my water, when needed, in two military plastic containers on a rear bumper swing. Easy to wash out the cans with a little bleach and water before or after use.

Right, but the idea is to travel around the GLOBE, to various difficult countries. I also hope to connect a pump permanently, to have showers.

So the water needs to be secured? I still think it is much better for delicate tools/components/spare parts than water. I see you want to build a shower. Simple is best, buy a gravity solar shower and hang it on the outside of your vehicle. Ask the Aussies what they do. It seems hot, dusty and dry there ;)

Also, I have a drawer set with a fridge on top, so accessing that area for tools in no practicable. I've carried spare parts in it on my long trip two years ago, but when customs officials at border crossings asked me to show what I had there, I was forced to methodically remove everything...
