Hello folks. I sold my LR3 a few years ago, thinking go back to Land Rover LR4 now. Was wondering how is it on gas. To be honest, 12 mpg in city pushing me back. Will appreciate all responses. Thanks

15 mixed and I bury it a few times per tank just to hear the V8. Computer says 16.5 but we know better Not sure you want to buy this beast if you are focusing on fuel economy.

In the LR4, my heavy foot and I get 12.5 mpg (city/heavy traffic highway). Under the same conditions I would average 9.9 mpg in the old LR3. Hey, 25% improvement with the LR4! My wife can get about 16 mpg in the LR4 with mix of city/light traffic highway.

With under 20% hwy driving and mostly around town in a hilly area, I don't expect to average more than 14mpg. I may well only get 12 as I have a mildly heavy foot. But I don't expect to crack 8k miles a year. Likely closer to 6k, so I am not too worried.

My other car is only 3500lbs with a 6-cylinder and I average less than 13mpg, but I am not gentle on the go pedal on that one.

In the city I average 9mpg without being heavy footed.
In a combination of city and highway, average is 12.5mpg with heavy accelerations when possible.
On a trip taken last weekend to Quebec City to celebrate for my wedding (900 miles) no cruise control and some city driving, I obtained 19mpg. Average speed for the trip 57mph and average highway 75-85. Couple times over 115mph.
The above numbers are given by the trip computer I have no desire to knowthat real mpg is another 1.5mpg lower
I have to say that it's such a pleasure to drive this vehicle that I could care less about the fuel consumption, however filling up in Canada was quite the experience at roughly $6/gallon.

I average 13-14 in city and 20-21 highway. My best mileage, I averaged 23 mpg over 300 (pretty straight and flat) highway miles with cruise set on 83 mph. I have been very pleased with the mpg of my LR4, considering how powerful, big and heavy it is. Before the LR4 I had a Lexus GX470 (far less powerful 263 hp, full-time 4wd), it got about the same city mpg as the LR4 but it would only do 18-19 on the highway at best. I only use premium fuel.

Actual stats since the day i brought it brand new in Nov. of 2009. This is not the vehicle's computer but an APP that is measuring it.

10.9 MPH
87% CITY and 13% Highway.

I would be honest and say i drive 25%-40% aggressive. When i go on long trips where it is 90% highway, i get about 17 mph easy when i relax and keep it between 65mph-75mph.

However i did not buy it for fuel economy. I brought it because i wanted a luxury beast.

I just took a 1001 mile trip. Used 44.6 gallons of gas for a 22.4 average MPG. The built in trip fuel consumption indicated 20.6.
