All,
I have finally found a MUD tyre that fits the stock 19 inch wheels.

255/55-19 ATTURO TRAIL BLADE MT 55R R19 TIRES

My question is, Has anyone fitted these to a LR4 19 inch wheel in the last year since they fixed their issues? If so i have a few questions.

1. Did you find any rubbing?
2. I understand these will be noisier but are they as noisy as the roof rack? lol
3. how is the wear with the LR4?
4. Do you rotate them every 6K?
5. How are they in snow on the road? Does the rubber become hard like a puck?
6. How are they when Towing?

255/55-19 ATTURO TRAIL BLADE MT 55R R19 TIRES

My question is, Has anyone fitted these to a LR4 19 inch wheel in the last year since they fixed their issues? If so i have a few questions.

1. Did you find any rubbing? No. The spare even fits fine between the frame rails.
2. I understand these will be noisier but are they as noisy as the roof rack? lol I'd say they are noisier than my BajaRack, but they don't bother me much.
3. how is the wear with the LR4? The wear has not been too bad. They seem somewhat softer than a highway tire so I expect them to wear faster.
4. Do you rotate them every 6K? I have been doing a 5 tire rotation about every 10,000 miles.
5. How are they in snow on the road? Does the rubber become hard like a puck? I have not really used them in the snow, but they are not too great in the rain. They do work great off road.
6. How are they when Towing?
I have not towed with them but should not think they would be any different.

Here is a link to a trip report using the Atturo tires: https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/nmbdr-by-land-rover.195353/.

Hi Fozzy,

I am glad you liked the trip report. It was a fantastic trip.

I do like the Atturo tires but you may also want to look at the Goodyear Duratrac. I think it comes in the LR 19" size and is fairly agressive. I do not have first hand knowledge but it gets good press. Also, I had the Cooper Zeon LTZs for a while, and if you want to stay with an AT tire they were very good in all conditions and fairly quiet.

Hi David,

I've been looking for Mud tyres as there are a lot of off-road and 4x4 tracks around where I live, and I am looking at hammering the mountain forestry tracks, support roads and trunk roads around BC this year so these tyres will be needed. If was going to go with an AT I would go with the 255/60/R19 WRANGLER ALL-TERRAIN ADVENTURE WITH KEVLAR, its a 60 and not a 55 which is good and wont rub, I really wanted a mud tyre and that is why I am glad i found the Atturo. I have 9 wheels 4 Winter 5 Summer and I am thinking of getting all 9 at the same time when I come to the states as it will save almost the same price in the tyres as it is in shipping and packaging.

Hi Fozzy,

That sounds like a plan. I think the Duratracs are fairly expensive so if cost is a concern the Atturo is a decent tire for the money.

I love BC. The year before the Olympics we spent some time in Vancouver and Whistler before heading off to the Columbia Ice Fields and Canadian Rockies. Absolutely beautiful scenery! Western Canada is on my list to re-visit one day.

When you decide, let me know and I will give you some guidance and maybe meet up. I'm also on the Overland Bound site where they have BC and Prairies group where the members love meeting up and travelling.
Thanks for all the advice

Just FYI, the reports on those Goodyear Wranglers in the 255/60/19 size aren't great in that their sidewalls get cut like butter. They aren't even an XL load-range, either, which makes them questionable for use on an LR4.

The Atturos are an XL load-rated tire, which means their sidewalls aren't as great as most mud terrains. They're fine if you're just going through mud, gravel, or tame rocks, but if you are going anywhere that sidewall strength could be an issue--like driving in places where tree limbs and trunks or sharp rocks could poke through the tire--then you may want to take that into consideration.

Thanks Ryanjl,

Good to know about the GY AT kevlar, thanks, The reports that I'd seen on youtube said they were more rugged as they were kevlar.
for the Atturo, I would like to go to 18 inches and get better MUD tyres but I can't afford the 4k to get me there as I also wan't to get a front Bumper or a hidden winch kit. Most likely the hidden winch kit as that is only $550 vs the ARB $2.4kcdn plus the 12k Warn winch needs to be added to either one.

My current priority list is
Accessory battery with smart Isolator - $350 deep cycle battery (marine or RV) - Already have the Blue Sea isolator
mount my compressor and 5 gal tank - Questioning if I can use the current air tank and split off of it to fill my tyres?
Roof Ladder - Thinking of just going with a side mount telescopic for $99
Tyres - MUD
Batwing 270 degree with sidewalls - Replace the DIY tarp one I have currently working as an awning from the back.
DIY Rear shelving unit - replace the 3rd row seat and make a bed and rack unit with a small kitchen and tool box
Winch with Hidden Mount or ARB Bumper
end 2019
Start 2020

Hi ryan,

That is good info - thanks. I have not done any terribly radical stuff, but always try and protect the sidewalls. If I wanted a true ********* off road tire I would probably get a set of the 18" Compmotive wheels. There is a much better tire selection for the 18" wheel.

Safe Travels,

David
