Front slider at full lock. The brown is spray paint from a previous fitment I was using to check rubbing on the slider and where my frame horns were. As I said, it is slight. One of my old setups polished those areas to a chrome-like shine.

This pic shows pretty well that the TR sliders take up a good .25-.5 inch of space that could otherwise be tire. My horns could also be cut back more aggressively, if the need ever arose.

Plastic bulge in front driver's well that will need a little heat gun or trim.

Keep in mind with the wider tires you need either spacers or different wheels or the tires will hit the upper control arm.

Forgot to add that earlier. Nothing is ever easy lol

Frame horn? What Frame horn lol. 06 was bolt on so I relieved myself of that issue

I can only speak for 2012, but it took me a torch, grinding wheel and welder...;)

I was somewhat conservative. They could be cut back and patched again if needed.

With different sliders and those horns cut back more aggressively, you could get to 34.5ish.

I haven't explored what kind of cutting would be needed on the flares, but I am sure some would be required on the flares and probably fender liners as well if you are going to a 12.5 inch section width and wheel spacers

I think in 07 they made the change to welded. There is definitely clearance work to do on the flares

I think I got it. A compromise, of sorts. Bare with me on this:

The problem with going with bigger tires, is adding width. The taller the sidewall, the more width you are adding. Example, 255/55r19 is 30x10.4 wide. 275/70r18 it's 33.1-33.4 (depending on the brand)x11-11.3 wide.

So if a tire is 11.3 inches wide, and it fits on our trucks with minimal to no rubbing, why not add an extra .2 inches?

In comes the solution: 35x11.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers, or 285/75r18. It's got the height, but not all the width. The ultimate compromise. Only downside is the prices. But if the price of the tire, ends up saving you money and time, I'd say it's worth it

And it mounts on an 8 inch wheel ;)

Maybe. Your limiting factors on width are going to be UCA clearance, and then the flares/liner under articulation.

I can try a snap a pic later today of the UCA clearance with 275's. IIRC, it is less than an inch. Another 10mm of section width should equate to roughly .4", so it is going to start getting tight there. As @ArmyRover pointed out, the solution to that is spacers, which brings it's own set of compromises to the mix.

I was originally looking around at 33x10.5's, but I could not find a set that were E load rated.

I got around using spacers by going with the TerraFirma Steel wheels from Lucky8. Not as appealing to look at compared to a nice set of alloys, but they get the job done. Since I switch back to the smaller tires for Daily use it works out fine for me aside from a lot of space in the garage for tires lol
