to be 100% honest with you, I have never owned a series 2 Discovery(aka Disco). Your 2004 Disco is legendary off road, when Land Rover built they really did alot to send the series 2 disco out with a bang.
Your intake pulls from the wheel well I believe and that it why it gets water in it. Tomorrow I'll try and have a look at my brother's since he has a series 2 disco then I'll be able to tell you more. the job should be pretty easy to do, so either you will be able to do it, or someone should be able to do it affordably.
The computer I refered to is your traction control system, it is awesome, and your disco has center dif lock which just means that you have an awesome off road set up

I hope you really enjoy that, me and all my friends dream of owning 04 Disco's and lifting them and using them on some big Safari some day! Don't feel out of place here, you'll learn this stuff if you want to. Honestly it's fun and can get addicting, and there's nothing wrong with owning a land rover and never off roading it, they are awesome looking and have great interiors! My brother has a "Westminster" edition which has an incredible interior! The fact that our Rover's look great and are incredibly capable off road just makes them that much more awesome!
I'll bet someone knows a good bit more than me on your check engine light and possible causes. It may just go off on it's own when your car dries out. atleast your engine didn't cut out which is a plus.
