Just thought I'd share, I Finally got my Compos and 265/60r18 BFG KO's. Super glad I went this route, kept it simple, still feels like a luxury ride, and I can't wait to take it out next week. no rub and the spare fits. stoked.

G'day adclark,
Congrats on your choice of wheels & tires. Especially tire size. The 265/60's are a better option compared to 265/65's because it avoids ANY problems - rubbing & fitting inflated spare. The slightly lower profile has not
proved an issue for me in seriously rough terrain. I can air-down without problem, except I keep them a couple
of pounds higher than I would with 265/65's. Ride quality is excellent & noise is fine. Speedo/odo are still quite
accurate compared to OE wheels/tires. When time comes to replace my rubber I'll be staying with the BFG KO2's. They'll be my fourth set of BFG A/T's over two Discovery's since 1998.

G'day adclark; I run 40-42 psi for highway driving. My D4 with all the aftermarket gear fitted & two full tanks (192 liters) & two of us onboard with average baggage/gear etc ,is
at the max gross vehicle mass of 3240kgs, so tire pressures are very important to keep moving in very rough stuff.
I'm happy to air-down to mid-20's on rough gravel/dirt tracks when needed, but usually don't bother as the KO2's are very tough. It saves time using the compressor if only
driving a relatively short distance in the rough. With the 265/60's I'm happy to go down to
18-20psi for sand driving & 22-24 on very rocky terrain - better traction & easier on the tires. I've seen many tires off the rim at 14-16psi in sand or mud, especially when changing direction quickly, so I'm very wary of going below 18psi.

Any of you running 20's try 285/50R20 and get no or minimal rubbing on stock suspension? Height at 31.2 should not cause rubbing but I'm wondering about that 11.2 wideness?

Seems most posts about tire size people just talk about the height at staying in that 31.? range but can't find much about width.

I have 255/55R20's atm and have ZERO rubbing at stock
Looking at:
-staying with 255/55/20
-Trying 285/50/20 for a wider tire
-Trying 275/50/20 for wider tire but would be very very slightly shorter overall
-Trying 265/55/20 for slightly wider and taller tire and this size seems to compare to the "265/65/18" max that some say to stay with or under.
-Open for suggestions

I'd like to get a more aggressive looking AND more off road capable tire than the Goodyear Eagle F1's 255/55/20 I have on ATM.

Thanks

I have 255/70r17s KO2s which are 31.1" and dropped to bump stops without rubbing on my '11 LR4 5.0 V8. The wheel well is definitely wide enough to handle it as long as your offset is correct. I just picked up my 285/70r17s and we'll see how that goes.

Just to be clear, the rubbing problem is generally against the frame horns when turning. Its the corner of the tire that hits. The extra width will affect this, as will diameter and wheel offset and tread style. Plus, it seems like there is a little variation in how far those frame horns extend. I don’t have any specific data/experience on those tires, but I would expect a tire taller (larger overall diameter) and wider than the 265/65/18 KO2 would rub some based on the threads I’ve seen.
