1791 Navigation Hack and NEW 2008 Map Disc

You can purchase the Navigation disc from your local dealer, or go here.

    seat adjustment controls

Cars with memory seats (HSE) had temporary power for the driver's seat for a period of time after the door was unlocked with the fob. For lower LR3 trims, the key needed to be in the ignition. Stupid, stupid... yes.

    Gas door security

I wasn't able to siphon with a traditional tube, so I assumed it was siphon proof... but I didn't try very hard. Looks like I was wrong... Anyway, as the previous post proves... a locking door doesn't stop real fuel thieves, either... they just break it. Even though... I do think it was a...

    Gas door security

No, the door does not lock in North America. As it's siphon proof, is there really a need for door security? It would only block 'casual' vandalism... which would be pretty rare, in my opinion. (If someone is going to try to pour something foreign in there, a flimsy door isn't going to stop them.)

    head phones

If you are talking about the dealer installed Rosen rear DVD player (branded Land Rover), the included headphones are IR based... so, it's somewhat proprietary. If you need replacements, you may need to contact Rosen. Or just use hardwired headphones... either plugged into the door jacks...

turning off daytime bi-xenons / on board computer ecu

Looks like you are configured for use in Canada: mandatory daytime lights. The dealer can switch this via test book. So, they'd need to at least plug in. It's within their right to charge you a labor minimum if this isn't a warranty fix... maybe you'll get lucky. (Why were you configured for...

Ford ESP Warranty now available for all LR3s still under warranty

What does 3/36 mean? You mean 3 more years, and 36K more miles? So, your extended warranty expires at 7 years after purchase, or at 86K miles? That sounds odd.

    smartautowarranty.com

Yes, the web site is somewhat stale.

    smartautowarranty.com

Ford ESP can be purchased until the factory warranty is over, which is 4 year/50K... the 3 year/36K limit doesn't apply to LR3.

    Blue Tooth & Address book

It's just a 'simple' software upgrade for the Bluetooth PTI system. In theory, the upgrade is not free... they are supposed to charge you since it's not a fix. If they pull up the TSB, they'll see something like this: "This feature is at the request of the customer only, and must be charged...

Ford ESP Warranty now available for all LR3s still under warranty

I think Ford ESP increased the prices in November... your 6/100K (two more years, up to 100K) warranty would probably be ~$2400 from the same seller. And likely a few more hundred for a 7/100K, if available.

It should still be possible... since mine has been off for years now.

Do I have Tire Pressure Monitors? (TPMS)

If I remember correctly, it was added late. The earlier 2006 builds didn't have it. The valve stem will be metal if you have TPMS.

    Extended Warranty

Friend of mine is asking how they activate the plan, when buying a Ford ESP warranty from a non-local place (like linked to above)? Do you need drive to a local dealer for verification and paperwork?

    Rear Audio Controls

Land Rover documentation isn't known for it's accuracy. The behavior as you see it today is "as designed" and there is nothing wrong. The rear controls can't control the radio station tuner or the CD when the same is selected on the main stereo. The front maintains full control. I personally...

MY ANSWER: Buying A Used LR3 (V6 or V8?, Which Options?, Cautions?)

In 2006, the driver seat was 8-way on HSE instead of 6-way. The lack of 'front tilt' on 6-way is bothersome to some.

    Another towing and hitch question?

I've been very close to the max. tongue weight (550 lbs.), but never that high. It's likely unsafe, and may even be illegal in your state. Good luck. I'm sure another renegade here will reply...

Using Terrain Response to Improve Gas Mileage

If it's too good to be true, it's not true. You can write me a check for $34.50 instead, and I'll send you a nice certificate that says your LR3 runs better. This way you'll save 50% and I'll get a nice dinner.

    Removing Door Moldings/Trim?

I have those, and it's saved me more than once in parking lots. Yours seems to be mounted lower than specification, though. Yes, they are just double stick tape and are removed like any vehicle sticky badging. A hot day and dental floss is a good start... and just peel it off. Then clean up...

    Bike Rack for Tow Hitch

If you don't have the LR3 hitch receiver (KNB500023), you need to buy it. This will give you a 'standard' 2 inch square receiver you can use to mount a bike rack.

Using Terrain Response to Improve Gas Mileage

I find this a little silly. I can easily get 2-3 better MPG by simply taking it extremely easy, with or without command shift. Why bother using grass/snow mode? Personally, I wouldn't want my vehicle to be less responsive for normal street driving. Seems slightly dangerous... Anyway...
